The Limo-Scene

Avoid potholes renting cool wheels for Prom. Arrive in Hollywood style!

For a super smooth ride to Prom 2010, follow these tips:

  • Go with a reputable limo company that’s been in business for awhile
  • Reserve early.  You could save a bundle by booking your limo five or six months before Prom.
  • Enter the phone number for the limo co in your cell phone and give it to your parents – just in case.
  • Save money by arranging for everyone riding in the limo to be picked up at one location where you take the pictures is perfect!
  • Make sure you print our directions so the driver doesn’t get lost taking your gang where you want to go

Unless you're Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl, it's not every day that you ride in a limousine. Here's a rundown of all the things you need to think about if you want to arrive to prom in style.

Get a jump-start.
Since limos are in high demand during prom season, plan to book yours early. Two to three months before prom should give you enough time to make the arrangements.

Who's on your passenger list?
Limos come in all sizes. Figure out exactly how many people will be in your group since that will determine the kind of limo you end up with. See all your options in our Pimp Your Ride Guide.

Here's a little tip.
Riding like a celeb can cost some serious cash. Renting a limo for the evening starts at about $400, but splitting it with your groupies can keep costs down. Don’t forget to tip the driver -- usually 15 to 20 percent of the total fare is standard. (Double-check that the gratuity isn’t already worked into the total before dishing out a tip at the end of the night.)

Keep it clean.
You might be asked to make a deposit in advance. This is to cover any mishaps that may occur during the night -- like big messes in the car. Keep everyone under control and you'll see that money again, postprom.

Get ready for the ride of your life.
Be sure the limo service is licensed by your state. If not, you may get stuck with poor service, a shoddy limo, and a rude driver. Be sure to read your contract and get an after-hours phone number for the company -- just in case.

The prom limo is all about the wow! factor. The traditional prom limo is with the stretch and super stretch Lincoln limo. This traditional limo holds from four to fourteen prom kids comfortably. Then, there is the classical limo like the Phantom Rolls Royce. This classical limo seat two to six prom kids. For the larger prom parties, there are the limo buses or sometimes called LimBusine. These prom limo buses fit fourteen to forty four prom kids. They usually come with a stewardess to personalize youre the big night. The most popular prom limo is the Stretched SUV limo. Its the Stretched SUV prom limo that gets the biggest wow!
